All throughout the Bible, there have been times where great men and women who have obeyed God and it changed nations. God told Noah to build an ark, because there was going to be a great flood that would wipe out life on Earth. Noah built the ark in obedience to God. God filled the ark up with a male and a female of every creature on the Earth. Noah wanted other people to be safe from the flood and so he told them. However, Everyone laughed at Noah and said he was crazy for believing that there would be a flood, because they lived in a desert. When the day came, the boat was sealed and no one could get on. So, the Earth flooded like God had said and everything was wiped out except everyone on the ark. If Noah had not obeyed God and built the ark, his family would have died and all the animals too. Moses was a murderer who was told by God to go to Pharaoh and tell him to let the Israelites go. Moses went and did as told. Pharaoh refused and God sent a plague upon the people. God protected the Israelites from the plague and afterwards Pharaoh still didn't listen to Moses. God was using Moses to tell Pharaoh to let the Israelites go to the promise land. Plague after plague Pharaoh didn't listen to God and his people suffered for it. Finally, he obeyed and let them go. Moses led them away, but Pharaoh went back on his word and chased after them. Moses and the Israelites were stuck at the Red Sea with Pharaoh and his army coming after them. God told Moses to raise his staff and Moses obeyed. The water parted and the Israelites were able to walk across dry land and get to the other side. Pharaoh followed them, but the water came down on him and his army killing him. If Moses had not obeyed God, The Israelites wouldn't have been saved from slavery. Also, God told Mary that she would become pregnant with a child and she became so. She told her fiance Joseph and he was ready to secretly disown her. However, God told him not to and Joseph took her as his wife. After the baby was born, God told Joseph to pick up his family because king Herod wanted to kill the child. So, Joseph obeyed and the child was saved from being slaughtered with the other babies. If Joseph hadn't obeyed God, Jesus might not have lived. God is the God of yesterday, today, and tomorrow. He never changes and is always constant. He always keeps his promises and loves each of us dearly. It is important to obey him, because he knows what will happen and when. Sometimes it can be hard, but we must press on and keep believing and obeying. ~E.K.Donaldson Do fathers not discipline their children? A father does and he does it because he loves them. He wants them to make better decisions, because he doesn't want them to get hurt. Hebrews 12:5-6 (NIV) says: And you have forgotten that word of encouragement that addresses you as sons: "My son, do not make light of the Lord's discipline, and do not lose heart when he rebukes you, because the Lord disciplines those he loves, and he punishes everyone he accepts as a son" God is our heavenly father and so is it not expected of him to discipline us? God loves us and calls us his children. There is no reason for him to not discipline us. However, we must not fear God's discipline. Discipline is used on us so that we mat grow and know God better. Hebrews 12:11 says: No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it. God disciplines us because, he loves us and wants us to be closer to him. He wants us to be stronger and make better decisions. He wants us to be stronger and make better decisions. He wants us to have righteousness and peace. God's love is shown through his discipline in this way, because if he did not love us, then he would not discipline us. For more verses I highly recommend that you read Hebrews 12:1-13. ~E.K.Donaldson Genesis 8:22 "While the earth remains, Seed time and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease." This is a promise of the Lord, we must have faith that he will end this long, dark, cold winter. He will bring a bright, warm, summer and when this time comes, we will embrace it and thank him for it. Praise the Lord, because the earth remains and so summer and heat and light must come at the end of these winter storms. ~E.K.Donaldson God is beautiful. All around is his beauty. Stop and take a moment and admire it. Relax and enjoy it, because he made it for us. He made all this beautiful land for us to admire and enjoy. ~E.K.Donaldson Forgiveness is always something that has been hard for people to do. Someone hurts you and you want to do the complete opposite of forgiving them. In the end it only hurts you more than it hurts them. Then, when you decide to forgive them, you probably say the common line of "Forgive, but never forget." Why do we do that though? Is it really true forgiveness? God not only forgives, but he forgets our sins. When someone does us wrong and we forgive them and forget the hurt they caused, we become better than we were before. ~E.K.Donaldson Have you ever felt like everything is complicated and nothing makes sense? I have had that moment before. Then, God showed me that it is all in my head. I was making things more complicated than they needed to be. I mixed myself up and got turned around a couple times. I kept saying, "Lord, please help me, because none of this makes sense." Then, he gave me clarity. If you listen to God's directions and don't make everything so complicated, everything might make more sense. If you trust him and follow his directions, you will later see the end game and understand. God is a simple God and the only reason anything is complicated is because we make it complicated. Even though we mess up and make ourselves confused, God still loves us. ~E.K.Donaldson God loves us everyday. Even when we go astray. His loving hand pulls us in, leaving behind all our sin. Through the darkest night and when in fright we're in God's care for he is always there. God loves us all the time. His love will forever shine. ~Chris Donaldson Isiah 6:8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying "Whom shall I send? And who will go with us?" And I said "Here am I. Send me!" Isiah 61:1 The spirit of the Lord is on me, because the Lord has annointed me to preach the good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. A song from John Fogerty's "Centerfield" says so much about the way missionaries feel. It says "Oh, put me in Coach, I'm ready to play today. Put me in Coach, I'm ready to play today. Look at me, I can be centerfield." That player is ready to be in the middle of the action. He is ready to take what comes at him and give the best he has for his Coach. He has called us to be his disciples and missionaries in whatever 'centerfield' he may send us to. Whether it is around the corner, around the block, or around the world, He equips us with the desire, the skills and the gifts to achieve His will. We are sent to a people who don't necessarily know or accept the Lord our God. We are there to bind up their emotional wounds and offer them eternal healing. It is not our responsibility whether they choose to hear or not, only to provide the information the best way we can and continually hold them in our hearts and our prayers. Cathy Donaldson No matter how weak a cry out to God is, he hears you. Even when it seems like he doesn't care and isn't listening, Be honest with God, tell him how you feel and keep going. It won't be long before the storm passes. You have to hold on and listen for God. Just when you think you can't take any more, he will give you hope. Jeremiah 29:11 (NIV) says "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "Plans to prosper you and not harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future" This is a promise from God and you have to hold on to his promises. God always keeps his promises, so listen for his instructions, trust him, and have faith. If you don't listen for instructions, you can't hear him. If you don't trust him, he can't help you. If you don't hold on to your faith, you loose hope and no longer have a dream to fulfill. ~E.K.Donaldson |
