Isiah 6:8
Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying
"Whom shall I send? And who will go with us?"
And I said "Here am I. Send me!"
Isiah 61:1
The spirit of the Lord is on me, because the Lord has
annointed me to preach the good news to the poor.
He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to
proclaim freedom for the captives and release from
darkness for the prisoners.
A song from John Fogerty's "Centerfield"
says so much about the way missionaries feel. It says
"Oh, put me in Coach, I'm ready to play today.
Put me in Coach, I'm ready to play today.
Look at me, I can be centerfield."
That player is ready to be in the middle of
the action. He is ready to take what comes at him and
give the best he has for his Coach.
He has called us to be his disciples and
missionaries in whatever 'centerfield' he may send us
to. Whether it is around the corner, around the block,
or around the world, He equips us with the desire, the
skills and the gifts to achieve His will.
We are sent to a people who don't necessarily
know or accept the Lord our God. We are there to bind
up their emotional wounds and offer them eternal healing.
It is not our responsibility whether they choose to hear or
not, only to provide the information the best way we can
and continually hold them in our hearts and our prayers.
